Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default So you think that they're not learning democracy ?

Free at last , free at last ?

If you think that we haven't had a positive impact on the Middle East then pay particular attention to the 4th paragraph .

paragraph four is great. seven is a little disturbing, however. religious police charged with upholding religious values in society? small steps, i guess.

Yep. It will take them a while to become as liberal as the U.S, and by that time, we may have caught up with Canada.

Police had set up checkpoints in the area. A car carrying bearded religious police, a special Saudi body charged with upholding Wahhabi values in society, drove by one gathering
I seriously wonder how many of their leaders disappeared after they returned home.

I'm not saying that they don't have a long way to go , but the seeds of discontent with their current situation have obviously been planted . I said many months ago that our best hope for their future , and our considerable investment , would be for them to look westward with envious eyes .

Iraqi democracy could fail. It's a possibility. I hope it doesn't.

But if it doesn't even though they will probably never be as rich with freedoms as we are they'll have vastly more of them than their tightassed neighbors who will be so jealous that they'll drive their autocratic goobermints to distraction until they loosen the reins .
