So the lethal cocktail that many states use to execute criminals may not shield them adequately from pain ? Ok , how about a massive overdose of barbiturates instead ? Guaranteed death without pain .

Your thoughts ?

Change all death sentences to life in prison without parole, and the the resources used to fight over this sort of thing can be used for something more productive.

The prosecutors need a bargaining chip when discussing plea bargains. If they don't have the death penalty to wave around, and make life in prison without parole seem good, then what could they offer?

I've never been fond of the plea bargain. It's like basing justice on a bunch of lies. You've got a point though. If it weren't for the plea bargain, our courts would be bogged down worse than they currently are.

Why are people so worried about the pain of criminals? Do they forget why they're on death row in the first place? What they did to get there (rape,murder,etc.) probably caused more pain to their victims than anything you or I can imagine- and now it's their "right" to be treated humanely. They should've thought about that before. I'm not saying we should purposely hurt them. Just saying that a little needle and some uncomfortableness before going to sleep is pretty minor compared to what they've done to get themselves there. You know, back in the day- criminals used to get STONED to death. This is a brutal, horrible death I'm sure. Anyway, I'm not saying to cause pain to anyone, just asking what we are so worried about? If I was sentenced to death, I think I'd rather be given a shot and put to sleep. There are worse ways to go, like getting raped and stabbed or strangled. Your thoughts?

you know it never stops amazing me at how quickly our society forgets the raped daughter or the tortured murdered son or brother ,the family who will forever suffer for a life stolen away by a vicious animal. society jumps to the aid of these animals and makes life and death to easy. why do the animals who beg for mercy never give it. death as a punishment should hurt. prison should be filled with a crapload of pain and hardships, its prison not summer camp. today we give free college educations . just commit a crime and get a degree.i knew a guy whowas murdered on his front porch by a man who shot him in the face with a 12 gauge. they had a massive man hunt for the man for a week finaly caught him he was sentenced to life he is out on parole now with 3 college degrees. and is living in a nice home with a nice wife and nice kids and living the american dream. while the man he killed is still dead his children still have no father his parents still have no son no dream just a nightmare. so sure lets make life and death easier on the criminal. life in prison should mean life not 15 years. death should mean death . a bullet ,a rope, 77,000 volts or a cocktail of poison jim jones style terminal coolaid. or in my opinion . ever how they murdered the victom is how they die. whether it be strangled or stabbed or whatever .

And another twist, Put them in for life and explain how that is less painful. Especially when Bubba useshim as a cigarette boy.
