Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default They're POed ?

You made 25 billion last year , but can't fund your own R&D ?

Bush cuts 50 million dollars of YOUR money from the budget that Big Petroleum would have gotten for R&D and they're POed ? Why don't they spend their own money for a change ? [:@]

I wonder how all those people accusing Bush and Cheney of kicking down govt money to big oil are going to spin this one???

Calhunter I noticed that myself, there are an awful lot of things about Bush that bug me, but at least cutting my tax dollars to the oil companies and telling them to spend some of their price gouging profits on R&D is a good thing.

I still want the folks who said the whole war was about oil to explain why oil prices are so high.

I'd like to know why the goob was giving them that chump change that we all worked so hard for in the first place , giving them a tax credit is one thing , corporate welfare is an entirely different matter .

Actually if a big oil company makes 25 billion, it probably pays about 10 billion in taxes on that profit. I really can't see how giving there industry back 50 millionis giving them our tax dollars. It's funny most states make 10 to 20 centsper gallon on gasoline taxes, the federal govermentmakes 14.3 cents per gallon on excise taxes, and people complain about big oil making 6 to 8 cents per gallon profit, which 40% is then paid in corperate taxes to the federal goverment.

I am uncomfortable with giving big oil R&D money anyway. It is not in their interest to develop alternatives sources of energy.

I really don't feel they use R7D money for alternative energy, they use it for better methods of finding oil, refining oil, drilling oil, and pumping oil.
