Only in the political section..... Sighhhhh. Yes, eto, when you see
...Deleted by CalHunter... , I have edited out something that violates HNI rules, whether it be bad language, a personal attack against another member, something supremely foolish like a threat against a public official, etc. I try to send a PM to every person whose posts I've edited with an explanation (not a chewing out) of what I did, why and how to avoid that in the future. For the record, every person in the political section that I've PM'd has been a true gentleman about the issue and has acted maturely.
I honestly try to edit people's posts without deleting the entire post or banning them. I receive complaints about language and other HNI rules violations from other members, mods and admin (they assign complaints to us) that I try to resolve in a professional manner with the least amount of muss and fuss. ...Deleted by CalHunter... so the member posting and other members will know something was deleted and not wonder if the mods are simply deleting things at will without telling anyone. I try to preserve as much of the person's post or argument so their contribution to the political forum is kept as intact as possible and everybody can enjoy the discussion to the fullest extent.
Using symbols like Ifferd did in the above post is fine when it's just symbols by themselves. I still have to delete the language when you insert only 1 or 2 symbols for letters in a prohibited word and the meaning is still readily apparent (like $hit as an example). I try to keep the political forum as unrestricted as possible and give people more leeway than they might get in another forum since we so often do discuss sensitive or provocative subjects such as politics, race, sexual orientation, profiling, etc. I fully expect people need to vent in this section and hope to preserve their opportunity to do so while maintaining the HNI rules and keeping the forum clean. FWIW, I hope to keep all of our longterm political junkie members and add a few thousand more to this forum so we can have even bigger discussions and an exchanging of opposing viewpoints.
Now, having said that, let the argufying begin.
