Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Shoot em'

Watched another episode of Cops recently. I'm getting tired of watching cops have to chase someone down after they already tell them to stop etc. This time the office got hurt while running after this guy..

Im getting to the point, after watching this repeated show after show and constantly reading about chasing down criminals in the news, where i'm thinking the cops should be allowed to shoot em.

Pull someone over and they run...Shoot em'

Apprehend a suspect and tell them to put their hands up and they run....shoot em'

It is just sickeneing to watch someone run and the cop have to chase them down even. Total disregard for the law and police officers.Shoot em'

It wont be long before that running crap stops

This is the most idiotic thing I've probaly ever heard. I've chased people before only to find out the ran because they were scared.

I'd a lot rather see them get longer range Tasers than have them firing wildly at a fleeing suspect .

They already do shoot them..don't you watch thenews. They shot one last night..only problem is he wasn't the driver..he had just gotten back from Iraq and one of the cops shot him 3 times as he was held down on the ground by two others.

See that I do agree with. Tasers work, and they don't kill. Saw a Marine get shot with one. Dropped him in his tracks. CS spray works good too. Been sprayed twice. It is the worst pain!

TheLouisville Metro policechased a guy they thought was armed for thirty miles intoIndiana ,and then caused him to spin out into a median before riddling his SUV with bullets as cars sailed past right in the line of fire . The guy had been accused of shoplifting at a grocery and fled . Despite the fact that his vehicle was stopped , and the cops had all the time in the world to aim , there were bullet holes in the SUV's body well behind the driver's door . Had they been armed with non-lethal weapons such as the Taser as well as their service pistols that guy might have been taken alive . Bad intel and nervous fingers sealed that guy's fate . The incident is currently under investigation and it's likely that several officers will be resigning by the time it's over .

Still want them to shoot first ?

Sometimes I do wish the police could end chases, especially high speed chases, a little earlier if possible, even if it requires the use of deadly force. Running from a crime or just because of panic makes no difference, a fast moving vehicle is a threat that needs to be eliminated ASAP.

As for foot chases, the offender isn't going to ram into somebody and kill them, so no need for lethal force.
