I'm sure you've heard this. I've seen a couple of Dem/Lib commentators on the tube talking about this. The best reason they give is "They've paid their debt, and since voting is one of the most fundamental rights, it should be given back to them..."

I agree. If a convicted felon has paid his debt, he should have all of his rights restored. If he can't have his rights restored, then it probably means that he still belongs in prison.

Whether they've paid their debt to society or not , reinstating any of their former rights should be decided at the conclusion of their parole period , or sentence if they "serve out" , on an individual basis . I would never support blanket reinstatement of rights , and nobody else should either . Break the law , pay the price , and part of that price is becoming a pariah .

I wouldn't have brought it up if I hadn't seen an interview with a Democrat. Sorry I can't remember her name. She said she spoke for many others. You think I make stuff up? Kind of like "back door" pressure to withdraw from a nomination?

There is absolutely nothing in the constitution that states a felon should loose voting rights or gun rights.
What part of the Constitution forbids it? (Not arguing, I just know some of you guys are good at quoting the Constitution like preachers quoting the Bible. I'm not that good at it.)
Most of the people in prison are black. Blacks traditionally vote for Democrats.

Good point. Not unlike the fact that most people in the Military service favor Republicans and Democrats have tried thier hardest to keep the ballots of overseas active duty Servicemen from counting.
There's a reason why some consider politicians to be the lowest scumsucking form of life- just below Lawyers and used car salesmen.
