Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The reason for war?

I haven't heard this anywhere, but was just curious. We enforced the no fly zone for years and our planes were shot at on a regular basis. Iraq has been attacking us for years. Also, does anyone really think the terror network in Iraq was set up overnight when the US went in. The network was there before. I hate to see our men and women die too, but I would much rather trained personnel do the work than untrained US citizens on our soil. Just a thought.

I thought we went in because of the WMD and the impending mushroom cloud.

I always thought that the WMD issue was a bit of BS. BUT, after 9/11 Bush did say that we would go after terrorists and nations that supported terrorists and everyone applauded. After the invasion of Irag, our forces capured one of the key players in the Achillo Lauro hijacking. For those of you who can't remember, that was the bunch that executed the wheelchair bound American and threw him over the side of the boat. Add that to Sadam's shooting at U.S. planes patrolling the no fly zone (an act of war?), and i can at least be sympathetic to our actions.

I saw Evidence of WMD. They were there. Bush gave to much time to exile himself. They moved them. Plus an Iraqi General also said their still there. But buried. I heard that last one on the news.

We are better off today and the world is a safer place without that tyrant in power.... I hope they string him up.

Bush's big mistake was identifying avariety of reasons for going in, but then constantly harping on WMD's.The flip side is that otherfolks dwell on theapparent lack of WMD's(although they did find one sarin gas bomb and missiles that Saddam wasn;t supposed to have) to the point of ignoringthe other justifications. Folks are kinda talking past each other.

You know I don't think that the average guy fighting in Iraq really cares about the country. They are fighting to stay alive and keep their buddies alive.

Do they want to see the kids be able to walk down a street with out missles or sniper fire killing them,I'm sure they do.

Incorrect , our troops are there because it's their job , which every one of them volunteered to do , and because that's where they were ordered to go . Fighting to stay alive and keep their buds alive is an occupational hazard of doing that job just as getting run over by a forklift is an occupational hazard of mine . I've coresponded with several folks over there , and nearly all of them do care about the Iraqi people to some degree , although they universally wished that the feeling was mutual .
