If we must kill fish, we should do it with kindness, PETA believes.
To alleviate the finny critters' pain and suffering, Illinois should require fishermen to follow a "Code of Angling Ethics" before they're issued a license, the animal rights group said Tuesday.
"Just like dogs and cats, fish feel pain, so if you wouldn't hook dogs through the mouth and drag them behind your car, you shouldn't hook fish through the mouth and drag them behind your boat," said Karin Robertson of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Actually if I could of got a hold of one of the neighbors cat where I use to live,I would ofhookedit thru both lips and dragged it behind my truck to my fishing hole and been kind enough to tie a rock to its tale and put it out of it's misery at the bottom of the pond while being kind to the fish by feeding them catfood.
PETA isn't asking fishermen to be kind to fish , they have more than once stated that they won't rest until fishing and hunting are eradicated . They even have a so called "Fish Empathy Project" headed up by a woman whose Father is the head of some state's game commision no less . I don't recall which state , but that really made me laugh . Keep your friends close and your enemies closer ...
