Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Supreme Court Issues Stay of Execution for Florida Inmate

If you read the whole story, this has some unusual twists. The lawyers are arguing about the chemicals used in the actual execution process and also that their client is mentally retarded. I've quoted some of the story below with a link.

Quote:
WASHINGTON"”Florida death row inmate Clarence Hill won a last-minute Supreme Court stay Tuesday night about an hour after he was scheduled to be executed for killing a police officer.
It was not clear if the court's intervention would only briefly delay Hill's execution, which had been scheduled for 6 p.m. EST, to give justices additional time to review three separate stay requests.

If his client had been ruled mentally retarded at the start of the trial he couldn't stand trial due to diminished capacity . BS

Florida uses different chemicals than other states ? Stall

What's next ? Crocodile tears for the killer ? Pfffttt ! Hit the switch . [:@]

Let's face it, we haven't given this guy enough time to pursue appeals. He's only been there since '82. How fast do y'all want this system to move anyway??

Yes we had a case like that in Texas and the death sentence was commuted to life... But one has to wonder if it's a lawyers ploy or is this man really retarded? And if he was retarded at trail why did he receive the death sentence?

Well, he sure looks retarded, but then again liberals tell us not to judge a person by his appearance. What to do?

I've always believed the mostappropriate punishment for murderwould belife in isolation, without parole, chained to a concrete floor. Why put a piece of human scum out of misery before it really starts?

However, I'm not absolute in this belief. Spies should be shot; terrorists, traitors, and war criminals should be hanged.

As for the Supreme Court, I believe it is their prerogative to review this case. I think Hill is guilty, and I believe in the jury's conviction. I also believe that his legal team is wasting everyone's time and money by appealing. However, this is our justice system, and we have to deal with all the holes it has unless we motivate Congress to say otherwise.
