Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Please Read---Bad Language Prohibited

Lately we have had many new members join and there has been a noticeable increase in bad language, bad pictures and people using certain symbols to avoid the automatic word censors at HNI. Favorite symbols include, but are not limited to, $, % and others. HNI is a family oriented website and has lots of minors (those under 18), women and men who also do not wish to be subjected to cussing, foul language, semi-pornographic pictures and other vulgar posts.

We do give you more leeway in the political forum to discuss more sensitive subjects with political implications and absolutely want you to be able to express your opinions, thoughts and ideas on any subject. Pretty much everybody in the political forum is downright smart and is able to convey any thought they might have without violating HNI rules. Please review the HNI rules and avoid posting improper language, pictures, etc. If you have any questions or concerns, please PM me and I will respond as quick as I can and to address your concerns or get you the answers you need.

Thankyou in advance for your cooperation on this matter and for making the political forum so interesting and such a great forum.

I've always looked at $%@ and such as a good and appropriate way for individuals to post the curse words they are thinking without actually writing them, thus protecting any innocent eyes out there. Do you mean that even this expression is not appropriate on the forums?

No and thank you for bringing this up eto. As an example only, something like this which is a tame word compared to some others being used that are simply not appropriate. Example--"$hit" People will substitute 1 of those symbols for a letter in a prohibited word in an attempt to fool the computer censor program. It does fool the computer but then a mod has to manually go through posts and delete or edit the words. Some other recent examples with no names mentioned are pictures which show body parts that belong in Playboy magazine or people saluting the reader with only 1 finger. Things like this belong in another venue or website.

Nobody wants to see the political forum or any other forum get over-censored or shut down to the point where it isn't fun or even worth it to post. We do, however, have an obligation as mods to endorce HNI rules and as members to abide by those rules as this is a privately owned website that is run as a family friendly website. There are more and more women and minors (people under 18) joining HNI and these people are the future of hunting for ALL of us. HNI wishes to make this website appropriate for these hunters and supporters also.

In essence, consider making your posts with language and pictures that you would consider appropriate for somebody to use in front of your mother, your wife and your kids. If you wouldn't talk like that or show pictures like that to your kids, wife or mom, it probably isn't a good idea to post it on HNI. If you're still unsure, you can always PM me or any of the other mods and they'll let you know. We aren't trying to stifle anybody's creative input, discussions or arguments but are requesting just a small modicum of self-imposed decency and regard for the ladies and minors on the board. Please PM me if you have any questions or comments. Thanks.

Actually, this new policy couldn't have come at a better time. I'm thinking of giving up cursing for Lent.[8D]
