NO they are trying to go after child molesters and the internet is THE largest feeding ground and marketing/trade instrument for such diseased maniacs. I don't care what they do to catch these criminals. The single easiest place to start looking for them is by looking at what they are logging onto on the net.

Red , I'm not even close to being a geek ,but with a bare minimum of info even I could track you to some some degree , doesn't that bother you ? I'm not a techno geek , but I'd bet that that if I dug far enough even I could find out a damned sight more about you than you'd want revealed . Doesn't that bother you ? I'm not saying that I would , but does that make you nervous ?

They were not spying on "us" they were spying on suspected terrorists. If a person was hitting every "how to cause maximum damage with minimal expolsives" web site or "how to build a bomb in 30 seconds or less with common household chemicals" or the ever popular "The Destruction of Americaa : How You Can Help " web site I think I'd want those watching for people like that to know.

Finding out that your own people helped house and train and prep people to fly airplanes into the WTC after the fact helps no one. Finding out before is what saves lives and makes a difference.

Kev with todays technology I wouldn't in the least think it was all that hard for essentially ANYONE with a computer to track me or my habits on the net. Hell with todays spyware and motivated hackgeeks where do you think half the junk mail in both the snailmail AND email comes from? But again I could careless. I don't consider scanning "public airwaves" (be them by telephone, satellite, TV or computer) territory for privacy issues. I know I have done nothing wrong so I don't feel uncomfortable if the men in black now that I am on this website right now. If it helps catch one terrorists or stop one child rapists then I say GO FOR IT Maxwell Smart!!!

My favorite "spy" is agent 69 and I get to sleep with her every night!

The funny thing about this is that the feds are claiming they will only be obtaining term type data entered for a search, and in no way will have the ability to use this info to connect to the IP address or user - that they just want to see what everyone is searching. Rrrright!
