Default out door life ? puh leaze

I read the thread on Tred Barta and I too have several gripes about the so called out door life channel . I try watching it and its either bycicle races or its a show about the outdoors that is stupid. They have this one show called mysterious encounters where they go and try to get evidence of big foot. Now i am not i stress am not a big foot chaser . But my 7 year old son and i watch all the shows because he is fascinated with all manners of wildlife. when i watched the show they were going from place to place driving a 40 foot winabego pulling a 16 foot trailer and hacking thier way rite into the bush. To make a long story shorter I noticed they didnt practice ant scent controle or wear anty camo or even try to be hidden. So i contacted them when they filmed about 20 miles from my home and offered to teach them about scent controle and give them all a class on going undetected. Well i was told that this was only a show and that they were not realy interested in anything i had to say . i just wonder how many other shows on OLN are staged put on shows. remember when Noel Feather got caught killing elk in yellowstone . the same elk ppl fed by hand . makes me wonder who is realy putting on an honest show . I only know a couple of guys who bother telling you it took 2 weeks of sitting in a stand daylight till dark to get a deer. Ted Nugent is one and the guys from Realtree Roadtrips and cant forget Dan Fitzgerald and there are a few others. who else puts out an honest show ?

I'm not sure... But I agree about the shows on OLN. It is ridiculous! I meanthey have HOCKEY now on OLN! Uh, H-E-L-L-O.... Hockey is a sport placed indoors in an ice arena! Same with the PBR bullriding and rodeo stuff.... that is indoors in a hugecorral inside an arena!!What happend to the "outdoor" of Outdoor Life Network?!?

Well, it is a show about looking for bigfoot. That should have been your first clue that it was strictly entertainment/marketing/giving the people a brain-numb'er.

I will say though that most hunting shows are all about the money shot only and not about the hunt. Very few of them teach a thing about hunting, shot placement, etc.

Hunting shows are boring as hell to me. I can make it thru about 10 minutes of a fishing show before i start nodding off. It reminds me of when you go visit someone and they force you to watch the two hour video of their kids high school graduation. I would much rather watch football. When it comes to hunting, I would rathergo out anddo the real thing.

amen to that Lanse.
Many of these "hunters" on these shows (not all)proabably couldn't even find their stand without a guide anyway

Nobody has complained about Survivor yet? I agree most of what OLN airs has no business on an outdoors channel.

To thier credit however, they recently picked up "Classic Patterns" which is a very informative fishing show, IMO. Unfortunately, they show most of the good stuff during odd hours and show the Survivor / PBR / NHL crap in prime time.
