I would have been shocked if Ifferd had known any more about Roe vs. Wade than he does any other subject.
...Deleted by CalHunter...Roe vs. Wade was not about abortion from a legal standpoint. It was about a Constitutional right to privacy. True it has come to be about abortion in the public arena.
So far as your breakdown of whether the justices involved were appointed by a Repub or Dem president-- some might see this as a reaffirmation that conservative judges tend to decide cases more on the evidence and rules of law than liberals do.
It's the liberal justices that draw criticism for attempting to legislate from the bench.
I might point out also that your attempts to portray all Republicans as as the religious right smack of predjudice. A great many registered Repubs are pro-choice.
But if you insist on making this a simple partisan issue, I guess you could just look at the positions of Dems and Repubs in Congress. Abortion, like guns has become a defining issue separating the two major parties.
You might also take a look at the Dem senator's litmus test for judicial nominees. It seems that they place abortion and Roe vs. Wade as the most important issue. For the most part, they are one-issue voters in this respect. And why is this? Pandering to their base, maybe?
