There was a thread here a while ago on the evecuation of NO before Katrina, I brought up New York city and could it be evacuated, well check out the article and you tell me. Considering how fast a hurricane moves that far north, I doubt it.

Although I think the chance of even a Cat 2 hurricane hitting New York is improbable , I don't seriously think that they could evac the city in time unless they had substantially early warning .

Kevin I agree the probability is low, but one day it will happen, they mentioned several hurricanes in the article but they left out one I am familiar with. Hurricane Hazel which did her thing in 54, although she didn't hit NY directly, she did things that no ther Hurricane had done before like refusing to break up when she came ashore.
