How will, if at all, the price of fuel effect your hunting or hunting trips this year? This being a hunting site I am interested in this aspect of the fuel price situation. Not so much as how it will directly effect other things in your life but strictly hunting.
I realize that ones purse strings tie many things together but that is the point. Where is hunting in your budget?
I have already made one trip to CO and have a couple of trips planned to southeastern OH and several to northern WI. I will be pulling my trailer on these trips which will add more to the fuel cost than in the past when I did not tow a camper.
I enjoy hunting and do not see a need to change doing what I enjoy. I will and can bear the cost.
How if at all will it effect you?

Not much this year. Like Scanr1, I had a new baby this spring so I'm only hunting in state this year. I'd like to hunt out of state next year though and don't anticipate it causing me not to hunt as far or as much. Like You, I find a way to bear the cost.

It will make a big difference to me. I am on a fixed income. There are X number of dollars for gas in my budget and my only choice is to drive much less than I have been. I will have to stay down in my hunting area all season instead of making two or three trips down. This means camping in full winter weather. Zero and below at night during the late season. I will stay warm by thinking of the oil companies taking in 100 milion dollars or more per day. Right now they are charging at least 35 percent more than the cost of oil justifies. For gas to be three dollars a gallon, Oil would have to sell for 95,00 per barrel. It ain't even close.[:@]
It won't affect me. I hunt on the family farm that is 5 miles outside of town. But, it might affect my hunting next year. I was going to take several trips, but might put them on the back burner.
I'm hunting close to home. All of my distant hunting trips have been cancelled. I simply can't afford it anymore.
It's just as well; with twins on the way and scheduled to arrive before turkey season, I was going to have to cut way down on my hunting anyway. I guess the gas prices will break me in a little more gently.
I guess that last sentence was something of an oxymoron. There's nothing gentle about these gas prices. [:@]

I'll be doing more hunting out my back door this year rather than at the hunting property which is 244 miles round trip. Let's see... diesel is now $3.10 around here, at avg. 18mpg, that's $84.00 round trip. I haven't paid for food or lodging yet either. Do that a few times a month and it'll get rough.

Actually, if it is 244 miles round trip, then your fuel cost would be $42.
