Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Will Anyone Come to Michael Brown's Rescue?

Did anyone watch the question and answer session (tongue in cheek) of Michael Brown and the Congressional panel?
Is he telling the truth as he perceives it or is he outright lying to protect his own butt.
If there was any truth to his statements, what do you think they were?

Weren't most of the people doing the questioning white? Who called him a racist?

There is plenty of blame to go around and no I don't think anyone will come to his aid.

FEMA came to his aid, they hired him on as a consultant. No word on what they're paying him, but I doubt he's cheap.

I think when all is said and done, the state and locals will take more heat than anyone. The governor of LA went before the committee yesterday and didn't want to answer questions about Brown's testimony. She'd have a tough time with that line.

The fact that the Democrats have boycotted the hearings is really interesting to me. Why would they do that? Perhaps it's because they know that the heat will eventually be turned on their party in LA. I could be full of it though . . .

I think that Congress is also culpable. They are the nimrods who created the bureaucracy (with the red tape) known as FEMA.

You would think they would be eager to pound a fallen republican appointee. Either they are walking th high road on this one (not politicizing the disaster), or they are indeed afraid that the LA Dem's will ultimately hold the lion's share of the blame and take a big hit.

Seems like if the later option were true, however, the dem's would want to be on the committee to help shelter the LA dem's in the process.

Yeah, good point. Well, I'm sure over the coming months, it may become clearer.

They are boycotting because they don't want Congress to investigate the issue. They wanted an independent panel appointed to investigate. Good Idea in my book. The Government can't effectively or honestly investigate itself. All we'll get is a dog and pony show with a scape-goat ending and no real substance.

Ken Starr was an effective independent counsel and Clintons romper-room stunts pale in comparison to the management/mismanagement of a national disaster.

I see thier point and I am forced to agree - an independent panel would produce more objective results with less chance for political partisanship.
Ah. I understand.

But who usually makes up these panels? Isn't it always former politicians?
