School Expels Girl for Having Gay Parents
Sep 23 7:05 AM US/Eastern

ONTARIO, Calif.

A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter.
Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.
Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.
Stob could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling.
School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.
Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.

I wonder what was said?

The school was absolutely within their rights to do what they did. They aren't "taking it out on the kid," they are holding to what they, apparently (considering they are a Christian school), set forth to do.

Their holding the child accountable for the"sins" of the parents.

Your right, they are with in their guidelines, but is it inthe best interest of the child? Who will teach her the right "path" now?

You think if they found out both parents were gluttons or alcoholics this kid would have been thrown out. Or if both parents were committing adultery? You know looking at others and thinking about doing it.

I have no idea what they would've done in those circumstances. If they want to hold to their Biblical principles . . . YES, they would have.

However, let me point out that a Christian school shouldn't start denying enrollment to students simply because they or their parents broke one of man's laws or one of God's laws. When the breaking of the law is repetitive or in the form of the lifestyle, which living a homosexual lifestyle clearly is, then it is a different case entirely. . . such as the case discussed here.

Why have rules (standards) if you're not going to enforce them?

should the school have expelled the gir? for all the reasons stated by Iff and Charlie, NO.

were they within their rights? ABSOLUTELY. For all of the reasons government shouldn't be interfering in the private practice of religion.

I'm just going by the facts stated in the story. Nothing more.
