Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Anyone notice the "news" on Katrina is crap anymore?

You turn on Fox, CNN, or MSNBC and it's the same old garbage of trying to figure out who is to blame for what. It's very rare to actually get updated on what is going on down there.

Because turmoil sells thats why. They'll spend more time trying to figure out who's fault than they will actually helping the people who need it.

Exactly how should the news media be "actually helping the people who need it?"

It's not simply a matter of "turmoil sells." News outlets tend to focus on the sorts of things that people are talking about and want to hear about. Look at this forum. I count eight active threads posted on in the last three days in which folks are discussing where blame for the storm and the response should fall, and none about updates of what are going on in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Think about it.

I hear ya, Ben. Same concept as looking at the accident rather than the road. I am however sick of hearing interview after interview about blame and fault. I've actually turned to the local classic rock radio station to get more updates down there than Fox or CNN can offer. Idiots.

The "news" on Katrina was crap from the start. If you listen to the news you might think the only place affected was New Orleans instead of terrible destruction all along the Mississippi and Alabama coast as well. Also, you kept hearing about those poor people in New Orleans who couldn't leave instead of the idiots that refused to leave then wanted to complain about everything.

The only good about finding out what went wrong is if they do something to fix the problem. There will be other catastrophes and hopefully we will be better prepared to deal with it. I too am sick of the same old news. The only good news is that my daughter isn't going back. She landed a teaching job in Virginia yesterday.
