Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Back From Louisiana

Well, I got to go to Slidell, LA and help out at a distribution center there. It was a good experience. I didn't get to do a whole lot, but I helped distribute food and helped people carry things to their vehicles. I got to talk to a bunch of Marines who were down there. That was really cool. A bunch of good guys, glad they're fighting on our side.

Even though it was only for a few days, I got to see and experience things I'll never forget.

Good for you FroMan. I have relatives in Slidell and they had about 3' of water in their house so there is quite a bit of damage. They left early and are safe so that is the important thing. My youngest daughter was a teacher in New Orleans and she left on the Saturday before the storm and came home. She isn't going back and probably lost all her stuff. My middle daughter is on the way down there with a veterinary group to help treat all the abandoned animals.

And very likely won't repeat either .

Kudos to you Fro....and to your daughters Champlain, one for knowing when it was time to leave, and your other daughter putting herself in harms way in an attempt to help all of the displaced pets and farm animals that have felt the brunt of Katrina.
My thanks especially for all the folks that have helped first hand, taken people into their homes, donated, and have helped in anyway they could even when they had nothing left but hope, and maybe some canned beans. I cannot imagine what many of these people are going thru. I just hope that families can be reuninted again, laughter will overcome the tears, and joy the feelings of hopelessness..... Blessings to them all.

Hopefully a lesson has been learned and this disaster will never have to be repeated for the lesson to take hold! WE HAVE TO HAVE A PLAN... So very tragic and sad no one paid attention before ......

Somehow...I'm having a very weird sense of "Deja Vu" after seeing that statement...

Can anyone say...2001?

Here it is again in 2005. Different thing, but same exact attitude before the fact. When will it happen again?

Great job Froman I would like to pack up my generator and nail guns and head down to help with some of the rebuilding, but a little reluctant, at my age I might get in the way of those young carpenters....

I think that the federal govt. should stay out of NO.The money is coming from Social Security, which I am currently on and the funds are running short. This is going to cost the rest of the country enough money without our tax dollars going to help people who weren't smart enough to live in a place that is above sea level.I had a tragedy in 1999 and lost my house and car.The federal govt. did nothing to help me out.I was on my own and so should these people. It is not our fault and we shouldn't be responsible for bailing them out.
