Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default 90,000 square miles affected yet N.O the focus, Why?

With portions of 4 states affected by hurricane Katrina, millions of people displaced, homes destroyed, jobs gone and lives in shambles why is it that the city of New Orleans is getting all of the attention. Yes it is a human tragedy, but no more so than for those in hundreds of other towns and cities along the coast and inland from the gulf. An area of a couple of hundred square miles, in an area particularly difficult to reach are gettingheadlines, while others, equally in need, are ignored by the media. Could it be possible that the system is actually working well in over 89,000 square miles of disaster area and has fallen short in only one isolated part, or is the rest of the region dying too?

I've been saying the same thing. NO is NOT the only area that was damaged, but all the attention is there probably because it is a major city and it's still badly flooded. If you notice, the people there are DEMANDING everything and giving orders as to HOW we are to help them while simultaneously looting, rioting and shooting at the people trying to help them. It's no wonder that rescuers feel safer helping people in other areas where the people are grateful for the relief efforts.

B/C Louisiana's whacko Governor doesn't know how to lead and the whole City has gone to shambles..... Heads have to roll b/c of this, starting with Blanco. If she would have spent the first 2 days being a leader instead of crying about it, things would have gotten better.

I honestly think it's because the largest population of people affected, are in New Orleans. That and the most people that needed immediate help, are in New Orleans.

Everyone elses damage was just as much, but they weren't cut off from the rescuers and anarchy wasn't taking place there.

The winds and water caused devastation in the whole gulf area. All the States had massive losses but after the wind stopped and the water receded people could start to look at restoration. In the case of NO it is continuing today. More people probably died in the 2to 5days after the wind than during the hurricane. There are people still trapped in their attic and I hate to see the death count once the authorities actually get to go house to house.

My sympathy for the residents of New Orleans only runs so far. The simple fact of the matter is if you live in a city that is below sea level, you are going to get wet. I can tell you Biloxi, MS looks like a war zone and people were fighting over ice when our convoy rolled out of there.

Its a "press thing" I guess. The focus is to show the worst, and in this case its New Orleans. What do you think about when you recall 9/11? Its the World trade centers, the pentagon and the other flight that crashed into the ground are barly mentioned.
