Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default King Fahd: Saudi Arabia's Ruler Dies

King Fahd of Saudi Arabia died early this morning of natural causes after a lengthy illness. He will be succeeded by Crown Prince Abdullah. It is too bad, the Saudis (and several other ME countries) can"™t relinquish these aristocratic regimes and dictatorships. Of course, on the news of King Fahd"™s death, the price of oil took another leap to $61 per barrel. The ricketiness of these regimes is a worry for the world"™s markets. [:@]

The Saudis are a particular concern since theirs is shaky enough for the royal family to consider reforms and other concessions . Personally , I don't see the Saud family maitaining control for another 5 years unless they drastically crack down and go totalitarian . They have too many enemies .

Such a crock! The Crown Prince has been running this country for the past ten years, ever since King Fahd had a stroke! There will be absolutely no change at all in the way Saudi Arabia behaves as a result of theKing's death!!

Quite honestly, this isnt all bad. The further the price rises, the more we will realize the need to invest in new technologies that do not require petroleum or require less. That would certainly bode poorly for large lobbying groups that have their hands around the collective scrotums of our politicians, but in the end perhaps we will come out ahead.

Its unfortunate that in the meantime some feeble-minded types will propose additional drilling as the 'solution' to the oil problem, or perhaps we can have another go at invading another oil-rich country in hopes of getting those gas prices back down. Are there any 3rd-world, oil-rich countries out there that arent inhabited by terrorists that we cannot defeat?

You're right! We definitely need new power sources - some day, the oil will ALL be gone!
