Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default book store advocates illicit drugs?

I was in one of the local Barnes and Nobles Bookstores yesterday looking for a book on vegetable growing. My eyes about bugged out of my head when I noticed not one but FOUR different books on cultivating Marijuana!?!? I understand Free Speech but that is manufacturing illegal drugs. A FELONY!!

I know they can sell whatever they want and demand drives stock which is fine and good but whatever happened to businesses being partners with their community? Am I just a dinosaur or what?

If it were illegal to sell such books they wouldn't , and you'd have to have your High Times delivered in a plain brown wrapper . You can find plenty of literature on nearly any subject you want if you look hard enough , including how to make bombs , poisons , and a host of other things that the general public has no business knowing .

Don't they also grow that stuff to make rope or something like that? Probably one of the largest cash crops in the world. Glad I never go to Barnes and Noble so I don't have to see that stuff on display!

Why shouldn't B&N carry this material? It not in any way illegal to post information on how to grow marijuana, and quite frankly you might imagine a lot of the material to apply to many types of farming

Hemp is actually a substantial crop in canada and other parts of the world.

Your statement that B&N 'advocates' illicit drugs is quite inflammatory however. They arent 'advocating' growing/using/selling drugs any more than I am by discussing it in this post. They also carry such publications as 'Cosmo', which means they advocate materialistic, pleasure-your-man and buy-expensive-meaningless-crap women. Hell, they even have books with "OMG" naked women depicted in them. The horrors!

The difference my friend is that I can put filters on internest access for my kids, so they cant get at that type of material. The books they had out were on the bottom shelf right where any child could get to them. The "adult lifestyle" magazines are kept at least on top shelves or in a place where you have to ask for it.

Are you saying its unreasonable to ask them to take the same approach with books that encourage crime?

As a citizen who is clearly involved in "the global struggle against extremism"(the "War on Terror" was a lot easier to type) you should have purchased all those books, taken them home and burned them. They're nothing more than a tool of terror and should be destroyed.
