President Musharref of Pakistan has been clamping down on war-ridden Imams, but his government just declared an operation of cleansing out the breeding ground of Muslim extremists i.e. they are directing all foreign students of the madrassas home.

Don't forget that a few years ago, some muslim extremists tired to kill him. Madrassas produce many who go on to commit acts of terrorism, mostly against Western govt's. Some more than others. In the case of Musharraf, some extremists have demonstrated their desires to take him out as well.

Interesting, a country of 167 million people with a literacy rate of 45% (individuals over the age of 15 that can read and write) slightly smaller than twice the size of California, that has 20,000 religious schools. Just what do they teach in a madrassas any way, and how do they teach it if only 45% of the people of school age can read and write? Is there any possible connection with ill educated people, learning by rote from Immams that may or may not be slightly better educated than their students, being taught to hate? They kind of put me in mind of some of the "Fire and Brimstone" Preachers here in the U.S.

Excellent Point. The best cure to hatred and extremism is usually education. unfortunately, sometimes the disease has gone to far...
