Cyrus Karr suing US
Heard on CNN this morning that this guy hired himself a lawyer and will try to sue the US government over being detained in Iraq.
For those that are not familiar with Cyrus, he is an American (Iranian/American) film maker who set out to do a documentary in Iraq. His cab was stopped by US military when they found a couple dozen washing machine timers in the trunk of the cab. Cyrus was arrested and placed in a detention center where he was refused any basic rights (attorney, etc..), but rather placed in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day for 55 days before his recent release. His innocense was proven after 8 days of being detained when the the cabbie admitted the timers were his and after the US checked Cyrus' background and papers, but yet they still detained him without any rights.
What do you think? Does he have a case? Or did the military over there do their job.
