I think I figured out what to do with pedophiles/rapists.
Well besides killing them. As we know these child molesters can't be cured, however I think I've figured it out.
After a 12 year old girl from my town was repeatedly raped and left in a cornfield the other day by a work friend of her father, it really made me start to think of the options such as castration ect. The one that made the most sense, would be to surgically blind them by clipping their optic nerves.
Think about it, they wouldn't be able to look at kiddie porn anymore, they wouldn't be able to see kids to develop lust over time (as this guy did), they wouldn't be able to drive, they wouldn't know if some adult was only 50 feet away in a play ground, they would have trouble evencatchinga kid.
It isn't inhumane, as there are millions of blind people in the world both born that way and by accident or disease. What do you think? Would this ever fly if enough people got behind it?
We reallyneed to do something, and if we can't kill them, or cure them, this seems to be a good solution. Perfect for adult rapists too.
RE: I think I figured out what to do with pedophiles/rapists.
Using this logic taken to the extreme, which seems where this
is going, a violent criminal of any typewould be a candidate.
That said, I don't think it would fly, nor would I support it.
There are no easy answers of what to do with peoplethat act
with depraved indifference to others. I'm a believer in the death
penalty for a large percentage of murderers and would be
willing to consider it for some other extremes. But you have
to remember once you have doled out any punishment there
will be consequinces. A bunchof blind perverts that can't be trusted to act with any conscience is just another drain on our
resources.
Believe me, I understand your frustration.
I feel sadfor your community and especially any child/person that
goes thru being raped.Punishment needs to be harsh and NEVER
ENDING,but we can do better than this.
RE: I think I figured out what to do with pedophiles/rapists.
Agreed, PK. I fully support the death penalty in murder and other crimes when the circumstances so dictate. This is probably one of those cases. But blinding them and making them a drain on society doesn't seem like a viable option. I would much rather simply have them in prison, doing hard labor on red beans and cornbread three times a day. I have also heard from prisoners in Huntsville that prison is a lot lesspleasant for those that harm children.
As for adult rape, the average circumstances are much different than the cases that make the news. The stranger hiding behind the bush type is notall thatcommon. More frequent are cases involving date rape or other instances that weren't necessarily violent, there was just a lack of consent. And keep in mind, not alldate rape victims are women. My opinion extends a little futher. I think sometimes the "victim" later regrets committing the act, seeks free counseling, and then the counselor convinces them they have been raped. I can even think of one instance where a woman's husband walked in on her with another man, and she began yelling rape.
