NEW YORK (AFP) - Former WorldCom chief executive Bernard Ebbers was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the fraud scheme at
the telecom giant that led to the biggest
corporate collapse in US history.
"A sentence of anything less would not reflect the seriousness of the
crime," US District Judge Barbara Jones said Wednesday in ordering the
sentence.
It was a white collar crime , magnitude notwithstanding . I'll be the first to bet that he'll get stuck in some cushy hole where his biggest complaint will be an early tee time or the crowds on the tennis courts . [&o]
