Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default All-star home run derby....wish I had never watched.

Well, figured it would be fun to watch this year. It was until Bud Selig and major league baseball figured they should add an international flavor to it. To those who never watched, national flags from countries represented by particpants from foreign countries were on the field. What made me sick was after some of the player's at bats during interviews, the non-U.S.players said they were representing their countries or territories....not even mentioning their major league teams. Even Ivan Rodriguez was reminded twice about representing his Detroit Tiger team. What the heck!!! The vast majority of fans are American citizens, pay their salaries, and could care less where the players are from........all fans care about is their favorite team.

Sorry to vent, but it didn't sit well with me. Here I sat trying to enjoy the derby, while all the Latin American players could do was wave their countrie's flags and chatter in language not understood by most of us. Thanks Selig for the segregation.[>:]

I never watched, but I can only imagine....

It annoys me to no end when people move to America to enjoy the good life, but never really intend to become Americans or claim it as their home. Used to be, when people were first settling this country, when you moved here you were proud to call yourself an American. I've heard stories about when some of my ancestors moved here from Germany. They spoke no English, but as soon as they got here he forbid them from ever speaking German again. He told them they left Germany to come to America, and as Americans they would speak English from now own. Don't see that kind of thing anymore. Around here, there are Mexican flags waiving all over the place. All I can say is if Mexico is so great, why did you swim here?

We're catering to the minority again.

Selig was the one who screwed it up by making it an international thing...thereby excluding some of the best batters in baseball. why get upset at the players for following the rules set down for them by the commissioner?

because of selig, albert pujols didn't even get to participate in the home run derby this year.

hopefully next year will be back to normal.
