Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Is Rove gonna get it from W?

If Rove (aka Boy Genius or Turd Blossom) is found to have been involved in the outing of Valerie Plame, do you really think W will give him the pink slip?

This is the same Karl Rove who smeared Jessica Lynch with a leak of topless cavorting with other soldiers before shipping out. Why? Ms. Lynch hadmade comments to ABC that went against the administrations message.

I'll bet he's already got the pardon framed.....

Nope, we've pretty much seen the last of it. Stuff like this involving bushy and his crowd seems to get swept under the carpet pretty quickly by the media. More proof that bush is not conservative, if he was the media would be on him and rove like a cheetah on meat.

If what I'm reading is true - in that he outed that agent - he should go to jail. But he won't.

This is my perspective as well. The only problem is that I don't feel that I'm getting all of the details of the story to forman intelligent opinion. I'm sure that's not an accident, however.

He wouldn't do jail time - it was highly unethical and stupid to divulge the info, but it was not illegal. It's only illegal to divulge that information when you have an agent that is currently working incognito.

I'm not entirely up-to-speed on this story, but I have heard suggestions that the characterization that an agent's cover was blown is a mis-characterization, that her role was OVERT rather than covert, and that she was an ANALYST and not an agent. Then again, that could be damage control by the Bush folks. I'm going to reserve judgment, however, because about the only source of information on this story is the news media and I don't trust them any further than I could throw one of them.

Your so called beloved Fox news is just as guilty as any other media outlet........perhaps more so. Fox news goes to great pains to give counter liberal views and opinions...........to the point of slanting the truth. Oh, its oh so obvious.

I've only seen part of the story BUT from what I've seen, Rove didn't mention Plame's name nor out her. He emailed back to a reporter who thought Bush or his staff had sent Ambassador Wilson to Africa when they had not. Wilson's wife Plame did. Rove emailed the reporter that Wilson's wife (no name mentioned) had sent Wilson to Africa. Then the reporter decides to publish Plame's name, her connection with the CIA, etc. Now people are saying Rove has committed treason when he didn't give up Plame's name but the reporter didn't commit treason when he stupidly published Plame's name and connection to the CIA. Am I missing something here? Does the press get a free pass for every single stupid thing they do????[:@]

Sure the e-mail doesn't have Mrs. Plame's name in it, but the e-mail dates from3 days before Novak's article ran. It's an e-mail that details a phone call. So here we haveK.Rove talking about Wilson's wife working for the CIA3 days beforeshe'soutted by Novak.

Actions like this that do so much to hinder the workings of our intelligence apparatus should not be defended. This is almost as bad as the leak that the US used intercepted cell phones to identify & target Al Qaeda camps with cruise missles early 2002. The phones went dead after the news got out and we lost that valauble intelligence source once the enemy became aware of our capabilities.

What else did we lose?

Here's a bit more from an article coming out in the Executive Intelligence Review by Jeffery Steinberg.

The leak exposed a longstanding CIA proprietary company, Brewster Jennings & Associates, where Plame worked. The Boston- and Washington-based front company had, since 1994, been tracking weapons of mass destruction, through a network of agents and correspondents in a such dangerous places as Iran, North Korea, Belarus, Israel, Pakistan, Libya, Serbia and Taiwan.
It is not known whether the CIA or one of the Congressional intelligence oversight panels has done a full damage assessment of the consequences of the Plame leak. But they are no doubt extensive. It is one thing for a spy, like Aldrich Ames, Robert Hanssen, or Jonathan Jay Pollard, to steal secrets jeopardizing the national security of the United States on behalf of a foreign power. It is another thing altogether, for top officials of the White House to willfully leak the identity of an undercover CIA officer, as an act of revenge or damage control, against a U.S. official who came forward to reveal government chicanery in a matter as serious as the Iraq War.
