Default Are gas prices changing your plans?

How are the rising prices affecting you? Cutting trips for shopping, vacation, hunting trips, etc.

Got a trip planned to Colorado at the end of August...me and a buddy are splitting the gas, but if it keeps rising.........we may think twice.

Its risen to $2.24 a gallon here, and we have a large refinery.[:-]

$2.24? that is about the BEST that most stations gotout hereat thier lowest point this year. Right now it's at $2.45.And yes that does make one combine trips and keep the guzzlers parked while driving the more fuel efficient rigs in the driveway.

Lots of people that I have talked to are canceling vacations and or changing the plan to a much shorter trip. I have cut my fishing trips at least in half. I am on a fixed income so there is no choice If the gas is higher I have to drive less. They are going to milk us dry before alternate fuels cut into their massive profits which are at a all time high. The face of greed is ugly indeed.

Economists believe that gas needs to hit roughly $2.75 average for it to affect economic growth.

Bugger the economists ! I live in the real world and the cost has definitely cut into my traveling plans . I see hybrids and deisels becoming way more popular in the future .

My around town travel - which is over 90% of my driving - is done on my bicycle or my Honda Ruckus. This week the weather was good and I put90 miles on my bike and about 20 on the Ruckus. I'm getting 87 mpg on the Ruckus.
It's impacting my longer trips - I think about taking them before I go. What amazes me is the impact the spot market prices for oil has on the stock market - the Arabs have finally figured out how to control our economy - and this is not a good thing IMHO.

What the price needs to hit to effect our economy depends somewhat on where you live. Wages in our state are probably 2/3 at best of what the wages are in other states. However because we have both bitter cold(-20-40) temps in the winter and highs over a 100 degrees in summer, our utility prices are high on a yearly basis. There will be major effects on tourism long before the gas hits 2.75 per gallon. Up here tourism is our second largest industry. There is little manufacturing or industry in the Dakotas. Its farming and tourism. Both are drastically effected by gas prices.

It hasn't personally affected me but I'd be curious to see how much it does affect tourism. Something to think about.

I agree James , same situation here.Fuel prices have a effect on about everything- most everything is trucked/brought intothis state- but the air& some of the water. We even have plenty of oil& gas etc etcthat leaves here on a reg bases.
I am always frugel with my money/ trips/gas - more so even now.

Nope, I never had any plans except drive to work, drive home, repeat. No choice if I want to make money.
