These folks are only regulated by a few laws , most of which date back to the 19th century . Isn't it just about time they had some restraint ? Realistically speaking , there really isn't much that this poor woman can do to them except sue , and she probably won't win. This case is not unusual .

Why won't she win? Seems to have a pretty strong cause. I've known some attorneys who live for this sort of case.
Bounty hunters, bail bondsmen, and the like have no powers here other than ordinary citizens. Yeah they can take you into custody, if there is an outstanding warrant, but if they are wrong, their head is on the chopping block. You could, for instance, use deadly force against them in self defense. They also enjoy no protection from civil actions. Couple of years back, two big time "bail enforcement agents", AKA bounty hunters ended up inside a Mexican jail for several month when trying to remove someone from Mexico. If they are smart, they have since moved into another line of work!

You must not be watching Dog the Bounty Hunter on A&E.

She wants an apology from the cops but not from the bounty hunters??? Is she gold digging?
I wouldn't call being forcibly taken from your home for no reason gold digging. Unfortunately the civil system is the only way that many of us have to fight back. They pushed their authority on her wrongly and all she could do is take it. Now she has a right to fight back with the only weapon that she has. I hope she sues both of them and wins!!!
Yes bountyhunters do need more regulations. It's a travesty to let them get away with some of the things they get away with IMO. You let one of them show up at my house and see if doesn't turn in to the shoot out at the OK Coral

I still have a lot of thinking to do on this matter, but my first thought is that we need to have bounty hunters. I certainly support law enforcement for doing a tough job that needs to be done, but I don't want them to have all the authority. The citizenry are the ones who have the power to make the most difference out there, including bounty hunters.
Think along the lines of the militia. A standing army's great for national defense, but it can forcefully put the rights of the people in jeopardy. I'd rather have private citizens exercising authority on our soil than government officials.
