Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default No Nuke Inspections for S.A.

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050616/D8AONQMO0.html

VIENNA, Austria (AP) - Board members of the U.N. atomic watchdog agency approved a deal Thursday that exempts Saudi Arabia from nuclear inspections, despite serious misgivings about the arrangement in an era of heightened proliferation fears.
Although the Saudis resisted Western pressure to compromise and allow some form of monitoring, the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency had no choice but to allow it to sign on to the agreement.
Called the small quantities protocol, the deal allows countries whose nuclear equipment or activities are thought to be below a minimum threshold to submit a declaration instead of undergoing inspection.
There is little concern the Saudis are trying to make nuclear arms, but diplomats accredited to the meeting said Riyadh's resistance to inspections - and any new deals limiting the IAEA's powers to investigate - were disconcerting at a time of increased fears countries or terrorists might be interested in acquiring such weapons.

Good thing their are allies and haven't had anything to do with world wide Terroism.WINK WINK>

Why would a country that supposedly doesn't have nukes resist being inspected for them ? Something tells me that they could become the "third front" if this keeps up , free oil is too hard to pass up .

Whew! What a relief. From the thread name I had thought that South Africa might have nukes.

No but we should give them one from about 10000 feet up. They're currently insolvent and looking to have all of their debts erased. The EU is all for it but because they're main creditor is the United States we're currently not going to let them off the hook. More wasted tax money.

As a side note, it's interesting to note how everyone screamed to end Apartheid and as soon as it was ended the financial disaster began. Where are all the anti-apartheid screamers with their checkbooks open now ? Or is it the usual course of events where I'll have to pay.
