It's not just Gay Marrige you need to worry about!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROME (Reuters) - Pope Benedict, in his first clear pronouncement on gay marriages since his election, on Monday condemned same-sex unions as fake and expressions of "anarchic freedom" that threatened the future of the family. The Pope, who was elected in April, also condemned divorce, artificial birth control, trial marriages and free-style unions, saying all of these practices were dangerous for the family.
"Today's various forms of dissolution of marriage, free unions, trial marriages as well as the pseudo-matrimonies between people of the same sex are instead expressions of anarchic freedom which falsely tries to pass itself off as the true liberation of man," he said.
The Pope spoke to families at Rome's St. John's Cathedral on an issue that has become highly controversial around the world, particularly in Europe and the United States.
In April, parliament in traditionally Catholic Spain gave initial approval to a law legalizing gay marriage. It is widely expected to be approved by the Senate and to become law.
But just last week, California's Assembly killed off a bill that would have allowed gay marriage in the most populous U.S. state.
The Pope, who as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger headed the Vatican's doctrinal department for more than two decades, said "pseudo freedoms" such as gay marriages were based on what he called the "banalisation of the human body" and of man himself.
So should we outlaw divorce, birth control living together etc?

You're making the assumption that the Roman Catholic Church makes laws - they don't.
And as I stated yesterday, American Catholics DO NOT adhere to the edicts of Rome, they are in essence (for the most part) protestants.
"Real" Catholics must listen to what Rome says. And even given that, I find it puzzling as to how the stances of the Church are deemed as so "crazy" or even "demonic" by those that are not catholics.
Preserving the integrity of the traditional family -- my God, Pope Benedict the XVI must really be a radical -- eh?

it just goes to show that the catholic leadership is out of touch with reality....but who among us did not already know that?
"Reality" as it stands currently does not in any way shape or form make it right. Just because someone feels like walking around screwing sheep because it's hip and trendy does not necessitate that it's morally right.

true enough.
but it still makes me chuckle when they make these proclamations.

If he replaced "future income stream" with "family" I might have a easier time with this. When he starts talking about the alien invasion from the planet just past Pluto I'll start listening - till then - he's just wasting air on me.

Why? The Pope is the moral authority for Catholics, the doctrine has been set in stone for tens of centuries. He's merely reminding Catholics that core doctrine is not a "living document" like everyone else would like to think.
Look what happened to the Anglican church - they're going down the toilet because of their "hip and trendy" approach to their religion -- it has ceased to be a religion and is more of a coffee klotch for the mentally deranged.
But thats OK, since the Anglican's have gone off the deep end, the Catholic church has absorbed a huge number of former members that were disgusted with the bastardization of their former christian religion.

i'm making no judgement on whether it is right or wrong for them to do so....in fact, i actually agree with you. i think that you either are catholic, or you are not catholic...you shouldn't try to change it. if you don't believe that they represent your beliefs, then it's time to pick a new denomination that more closely reflects what you believe. (note: not you personally, but people in general.)
