Default Question for Wisconsinites on property tax

My head is still buzzing from a letter I just received. We recently had a referendum to INCREASE the amount of tax levied for the pubic school system. It was voted down by a resounding 78%. Vast majority of our property tax goes towards the extravagent retirement and health benefits and lifestyles of the retarded public teachers around here.

I got an assessment of my property. In ONE YEAR, the "value" went from $145,000 to $220,000 -- AN $80,000 increase in one frickin' year.

My taxes are now going to double (i'm going to try and fight it, but I have a feeling given my current and probably permanent state of anger i'm going to get arrested at the hearing).

WTF did your taxes do ???

I'm not from Wisconsin, but my property taxes went up, too. About 15%.

I think it is because I put new tires on the trailer. I took the old ones off the roof and put up some new Michelins. I sure won't make that mistake again. I'll use AgPro retreads or Perelli's or something.[8D]

Try living in Erie County in NY if you want to see taxes. The budget has over 100 million dollar deficit and where do you think they will get the money?

Tard, you may want to check to see if they made a mistake on yours. It happened to me once where they wanted to tax me for 600 square feet that my house DOES NOT have !! I took it to the people that did the assesment and told them to show me where that 600 ft of living space was located....they said OOOOOPS !!!

My assesment went up also this year, from 180K to 196K. Of course the slip says that this does not nesessarily mean that your taxes will go up [:@].....ya right, and pigs can fly !!!!

Aside from the beer, cheese and taking tours in the hood, why do you continue to live in Wisconsin tardfarmer?

typical ploy is right before they assess you they drop the per mil rate to lull you into a false sense of security, then after you accept the butt reaming, they jack them back up.

I'm fighting it, but I have NO doubt the assessors office is somehow deeply in cahoots with the teacher's union.

Cal I ask my self the same thing every time I hear someone continuosly moaning about where they live. It is one thing if you have no marketable skills to where you couldn't afford to move from one low paying job to another, but when one has marketable skills and they feel where they live is that messed up, find another job in a different area and MOVE!!!!
