Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Democrats will be allowed to filibuster future nominees in exchange for up or down votes on certain current nominees.

Thoughts anyone?

I don't know, I think fillibustering for judicial nominees is absolutely retarded, I don't know that i would do away with it, but what sort of an agenda can you have if you simply do not have an up or down vote!

What if during any local/state/federal election everyone in the US wrote "I don't know" on the ballot -- it's the same damn thing and its' stupid.

its a security blanket if nothing else.

Yes but it can be an insidious one too, the primary theoretical use is to get pork attached to pending legislation/nominees.

More mediocre theater from our elected actors in Washington. What a waste of time and our money.

the fillibuster was NOT broken - the same votes were cast just by different party members

and it doesn't take away the FACT that Democrats avoided voting on these Judges for 4 years

everyone stop a moment... this was a time honored procedural tactic used by both sides in the senate when they didn't have the votes to stop something. the Rs held up Clinton nominees by whatever means possible, the Ds hold up Bush's similarly.

the observation about being in the minority one day was right on the money...not certain the Rs or the Ds want one party to have unfettered ability to push through their agenda.

You hear so much talk, it's hard to know what's true. I heard yesterday that under the Constitution and the original parlimentary rules, the fillabuster could not be used for judicial nominees -- that's the way the founders envisioned it.

Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?

If you recall , I actually advocated having everyone in the country go to the write in box on their ballot and write "None of the above" in the most recent presidential election . Looks like I may have been on to something ...
