True enough and another reason to do away with the filibuster especially where a vocal minority can control the congress beyond the reasonable expectations of society.

Let's do away with the fillibuster, and then there won't be any voice left for the minority.

There is still plenty of oportunity for the minority to express their views during the debate before a vote, the filibuster has nothing to do with debate, it is merely a way to subvert the democratic process by not allowing a vote to take place. During a filibuster nothing is accomplished except a minority will deny the majority an opportunity to vote on an issue.
Quote:
Doing away with the filibuster might hurt if Democrats gain control again.
How and Where, you say?
Gun control.

Perhaps so Clint, but gun control issues have never been subjected to a filibuster in the past nor has a filibuster ever been attempted by the conservative element in congress to forestall even the worst attempts at stripping us of any gun rights. Given their way, most politicians, regardless of what they say when on TV or at home, are whole heartedly in favor of disarming the citizenry, the only thing that has held them back so far is the fact that 80 million of us already own guns. None of them believe in gun rights enough to consider a filibuster to defend our rights, if they did, the GCA of 1968 would never have been brought to a vote nor any of the other idiocy that passes for legislation in the gun control arena.
