And my boss told me this morning that despite a hiring freeze they're going to bring me on board permanently because they want someone to do embedded processing and have a strong analog background...

I still own a 1940's vintage "crown" typwriter that comes in it's own case.

I actually used that puppy in college when anything but electric typewriters was considered gauche.

Ummmmmmm ... Crown ..... They sure knew how to build them back then .

My sister and I were just talking about typewriters the other day .
Neither of us had actually seen one in operation for quite awhile , and she told me about a customer that had sent her some documents in PDF , which for reasons that I didn't understand would have required her to either be very creative to use on her computer or type out by hand at the customer's suggestion so that they could be faxed back . Her reponse to them was "What's a typewriter ?" . For reference she was born in '72 .
