Curious as to how you guys vote - strictly democrat, strictly republican or do you listen to each candidate open mindedly and base your decisions on what they bring to the table?
i quit voting a straight ticket 20 years ago. the NRA was pushing for a politician that supported their ideals, but he was the biggest crook in the state! i knew him personally and wouldn't swap pocket knives with him if both blades on mine were broken!![:@] that's when i started voting for the candidate after checking his stand and history. i also dropped out of the NRA, after telling them why! [:'(] i'm a registered democrat, but haven't voted for a majority of them since before Clinton's time here in Arkansas. he is the reason this state has gone republican!! he was a crook when he started politics, and he and his wife are still crooks, IMHO!![:@] i grew up in Louisiana, and we had a saying there- "we elect crooks to serve, cause they have all the money they need. everyone else elects honest people, and they turn into crooks and steal them blind!" Clinton was the exception to that rule-he was a crook who wanted to be a bigger crook, so he stole everything that wasn't nailed down!!

I'm going to have to agree that politicians are all corrupted by politics. However, I thought Clinton was a good president overall. I'm curious to hear your reasoning behind your feelings.
you really should haave seen him as gov. of Arkansas, then you would know why i didn't like him as president. he was too weak to stand up to other countries, but what could you expect from a draft-dodger. he made a laughing stock of the presidency, cause he still can't keep his zipper closed (the accounts of him as gov. would rattle your confidence if it weren't all covered up). when he had opprtunity to do good, he would take a poll to see if his stand was popular. if it wasn't, he would go with the poll, rather than do what should have been done. better to win a popularity contest than make yourself unpopular by supporting the constitution and doing what's right for the taxpayers. just in general, he fell far short of my expectations as a man of honor, and a man for the country.

I see where your coming from on many of your points, but during his terms our country enjoyed low unemployment rates, low crime rates, first balanced budget in decades, budget surplus, and strong environmental legislation. You can't argue that he didn't do a good job?

I normally vote for the person. In 2000, I voted Republican for president and Democrat for Congress. I like things a lot better when neither party can dictate their entire agenda without real opposition. In 2004, I refused to vote for any Republican after redistricting was shoved down our throats. To hell with education, economic development, and long-term population planning, we had to redistrict right now because we could become just a shade or two darker red.
