Default Ontario snow depths

I am pleased to report that I just spent a weekend snowmobiling in the Port Loring area and the snow is as low as I have seen it in years. Poor sledding conditions but its a great winter so far for our deer herds. Hey might even draw a doe tag this year!!!!!

I thought the snow depths around Bancroft and in the northwest around Kenora were the deepest they been in a long time.

Can't comment on the Northwest, But I don't think Bancroft has any more than the Port Loring area. Rarely does.

I was out snowmobiling last weekend east of Kenora and talk about snow. We broke some new trails and were getting stuck every where but the lakes were good. The snow was waist deep at some spots in the bush.

Should hurt the deer which in turn will help the moose. I know deer have been moving into the Ignace area lot in the last few years which has hurt moose numbers but I understand this winter will take care of any deer living in marginal habitat.
