Once again Skeeter thanks for the help posting photos. This moose was taken on my first morning of the hunt. Conditions were unusually warm in fact we were swarmed with black flies and mosquitos. It was so warm we could not cool the moose down enough and ended up leaving the day after to save the meat ( which turned out fabulous). It was aged as a 2 1/2 yr old bull by the MNR. Hunted a clear cut at first light and basically had no moose moving at all. So at 7.00 am I started calling (cow call) and got an immediate response. He hung up on me a couple of times and I had to recall a couple of times but on the last call he just came trotting in. At a little over 100 yds he was working his way down wind from me so I dropped him with 1 shot which was a high shoulder which clipped the bottom of the spine. We had him quartered and in camp by 1.00 pm first day of the hunt. First moose with my 7mm rem mag ( i used a .338 for years) and I was quite pleased with the results. Matter of fact I am rapidly becoming a big fan of the 7 mag. So far I have taken 2 bull caribou, 1 moose, and 2 pronghorn with it and everything drops in thier tracks with 1 shot. Can't ask for much more than that. Again Skeeter, thanks for the help!

Congrats on the moose terry looks like alot of fun to me. I have found that that spinal shot really seems to do a number on moose. One year I shot a calf that had been run out of a small river flat. Was on the run or trot and i cracked him in the hump. Could see a trail in the dirt where he locked up and skidded then dropped and never so much as kicked. Fastest kill i think i have ever seen. I have heard from many other hunters that they have also experienced this with moose. I also think the 7 mag is the best thing since sliced bread. Good flat shooter that packs a pretty good punch. Glad to hear you are happy with its work.

Thats a nice moose! A lot of good eating. Do you live in Canada or just hunt their a lot?
