Default Bear skull & mandible damage

Dug up my bear skull a few weeks ago. The bear was from BC taken in May 2015. Surprised to see the mandible injury. Looks like it happened some time ago and the bone was really affected.

Default Bear Skull.

Nice skull! I think that deformity you see is from an infection. Whether or not the bear was suffering when you shot it is anyone's guess. But off hand I don't think infections of the bone heal on their own.

Again, nice skull.
