Default Newfoundland moose

How is the moose population this year? I plan on heading way up there with my friend in hopes of having a good hunt and filling my freezer.

I have never done Newfoundland moose, but am interested in hearing all about it. I am assuming you will drive a car or truck as opposed to flying. How much time and what range of cost is involved?

Driving my Dodge Dakota crew cab and driving time per mapquest is 18 hours or so. Round trip I have estimated at about $700 for gas. Then there is the ferry ride from N. Sydney, Nova Scotia to Port Aux Basque, Newfoundland then another 5 -6 hour dirve to Bishop's Falls, NL.

My question was not very clear. I am asking about the time and cost involved in the actual hunt. What outfitter are you using? Have you done this hunt before?

The outfitter is migule mountain outfitters and the cost is $3400 canadian (about $3250 US). This is a 5 day hunt one on one meals and lodging included.
Between the two of us we will have one bull tag and one either sex tag. This is the first time for moose so we are really looking forward to it.

I just looked over their website. Looks like some fishing tackle will be in your truck along with your hunting gear.

Did you get the party tag, or separate bull and either sex tags?

I hope you will find the time to post your impressions after the hunt. It looks like an interesting way to spend a week.

No fishing. The season will be over in Oct. We may each have an either sex tag but for sure one of us will and the other will have a bull only tag.

How was the hunt?

EDIT: I just saw your review in the Hunts/Outfitter Review area. Sounds like you had a good hunt.
