My husband Garry with the possible #8 SCI Waterbuck. The Waterbuck measured over 32", weighed over a 1,000 and had a neck the size of an Eland. We are waiting for the official score on him as he was the largest taken in that area by bow or rifle.
Garry and his PH Villam had sat in a blind all day long. He was tired and frustrated with no game coming into water. In fact the only entertainment they had was the Merecats playing on the back of the waterhole and a 4' Monitor Lizard who wanted to share their blind.
It was last shooting light, they had already called to be picked up and were gathering their gear when the monster Water Buck snuck into take a drink. Garry placed his fading red pin on the buck and released his arrow. The buck ran off crashing through the brush. It was now totally dark and they had a monster down and they had to find it before anything else did. They called for trackers and flashlights and started searching for him.
They recovered the Water Buck less than 40 yards from the waterhole and Garry had the trophy of his lifetime!
