I see we are holding a gopher derby as well this year[8D]. My cousin & I shot probably over 1000 of the critters last year and we' re heading to the range tomorrow to sight in for this year. I' m wondering if anyone did the one in Sask. last year or anywhere else for that matter, and approximately how many tails did it take to win? anyone else doing it this year?

I know I read it in the local news paper that they werer including other Provinces, I would like to know if this one is included and if so give me some info on it

JD if memory serves me correct I believe it was around 5,000 that took top spot in Sask. I' ll try and confirm that for you...b/c the old mind ain' t what she used to be.
Last year I entered it but imanaged a meager tail count of like 50[]. It seems with spring bear and spring walleye, pike and rainbow fishing my time is better spent elsewhere. Haven' t decide if i will go in this year or not.

Alberta & Saskatchewan and possibly Manitoba are the only provinces that are going to have a gopher shoots sponsored by the wildlife federations.
littleal, good luck having a shoot in Ontario. The penis heads from the Toronto humane society were the ones trying to gain public support to shut the shoot down. The head penis from the THS called prairie farmers morons for blaming " richardson ground squirels" for damage to equipment and livestock. Ever wonder why the west wants out of Canada?
5000 you say...[]WOW thats a lot. I just sighted my .22 mag in this weekend and it' s shooting amazingly tight groups. I don' t think I' ll come close to that number, I guess I' ll just go shoot em anyhow. Thanks for the info guy' s.
