Default Spring Saskatchewan bear hunt

I have an opportunity to travel to Saskatchewan and hunt bears next spring but due to my schedule I won't be able to go until early June. Is it worth the expense going at this time?

The likelyhood of finding rubbed bears is higher in june notsomething youlike when searching for a rug to display. It also depend on where your going (how far north) and mother nature -arrival of spring & when the bear come out of dens from the winter. Another thing to consider is bugs, they will be out in full force inJune. A thermacell, bug suit, etc will be worth its weight.

As far as hunting goes June has always been good for numbers from my experience and it does give you some extra time in the evening to be in the stand.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help. The hunt will be in the central part of the state. What do you mean by finding rubbed bears?

In central saskatchewan (which is a province not state)you'll find rubbed bearsin june. Rubbed is bare spots in the coat bears develop from scratching or rubbing trees, etc. Black bears shed their winter coat end of may - june here.

Default Saskatchewan Spring Bear

My wife and I went to Saskatchewan this past June spring (June 7 - 14) for a bear hunt. We were 3 1/2 hours North East of Regina. We encountered everything from cold, rain, ice rain and ice pellets during this week. According to the outfitter their spring weather was about 2 weeks late, therefore the bears were not yet rubbed. You can watch our hunt here....
