Default southern manitoba white-tailed deer

Heres a white-tailed deer i harvested in 2000, it scored 169 7/8. This animal was taken in the general rifle season in south western manitoba, once in a lifetime. I harvested this deer on the last of the general rifle season in 2000.Cheers Dean www.huntfishtrap.com

yes, it was a good day, i was using a .243 took the shot at 200 yards. What happened was a smaller buck and doe ran out from a small bluff of trees i stopped for a second and looked back at the bluff and saw this guy and fired . He was standing there and looking.cheers Dean

Yes i should change the wording, i was watching the other deer and almost took a shot at the smaller buck running across the field but i turned just for a second and saw the larger buck and took aim and fired. I was standing next to a willow and blended in nicely

Where abouts in southern Mb? Just interested for the south west hasn't produced too many over the last few years (not the consistant big ones as the olden days). Nice deer but the body looks a little small for the rack (no offense intended)for Mb so I would be guessing south west. Maybe around the Kilarney area. Please let me know for a couple of buddies of mine have harvested a number of real nice bucks with nice mass, south of the Assiniboia River in the Glenboro area. I hunt primarily in the interlake where the racks may not have the nice form of your harvest but they all have massive bodies (fills the freezer right quick). Just interested in the area as well as more details of your hunting story. Nice picture that has created curiosity. Nice buck.

Got this one in the Miniota Area north of the Assinioboine River, It did have a small body for the size of the antlers. Goto to this link www.hooperslake.com They hold an annual big buck night and have posted some of the winners of the years, the best was a typical 187 back in 2000. Also you might be interested in www.huntfishtrap.com few pictures there.. Cheers Dean

Nice buck Dean! Truly a trophy buck. Myself and a few buddies are seriously considering a trip to Manitoba in 2009. Are there any reasonable outfitters that you would suggest up there? It seems that Manitoba is a little less expensive than Saskatchewan, Alberta etc. Any info on hunting the area would be appreciated. Thanks for the info and again, nice buck.
