Default Hunting New Zealand

Looking for info on hunting new zealand. What did you pay for what species? Was it on private land? Preserve? Know of any places for good public land hunting?

Brutal, I may be wrong but I think most game species there were introduced for hunters, and are now considered pests. If I remember correctly its a free for all, no tags required for most animals. I can't think of any New Zealanders that frequent this forum, but I'm sure there is a member... KiwiHunter or something like that, you may want to search "k" section of members and PM anyone starting with Kiwi.
Good Luck

No hunting is a permit system regulated by the DNR. on private land I guess it's a "free for all" as you put it.

I seriously doubt I can just fly there with my rifle and start blasting things.

If you get some hard info please post it.

Thanks.

Maybe I've already checked those sites. Maybe I'm already familiar with the firearms importation process/laws.

Maybe I'm looking for some comments from people with first hand experience rather than obvious websites and rumors.
