Default Ontario Archery Moose

Hey, can anyone tell me if they set the dates yet for the Ontario Archery Moose Season? I tried the MNR website, but it says the site is down. I was told it will open on the saturday closest to the 15th of Sept. Is that true? Thanks for any help you can give. I have to get my vacation scheduled.

Yes Kip archery Moose always opens the saturday closest to the 15th and runs for 3 weeks.
But with the past experience you might want to go the second week, that's a good bet on the rut. But that is totally up to you!
Where do you plan on going for your hunt?
AL

I'm due in camp on the 20th. So opening day should be the 13th. Going back to the same place as last year Kip? I agree with Al on the 2nd week being better. But then we stay at the same place.

I am going to be going back to the same place that we went last year. I believe it was area 29? It is North of North Bay, but south of Timmins, and east of Hwy 65. We were there last year for the first week, and I dont think we could have had a better week. The bulls were answering calls great, and we called bulls in every day. I dont see how the second week could be better than what we experienced, but maybe I'm missing the boat.
The weather could have been a bit cooler, in my opinion, but none the less, a great week. I'll check to see, maybe we will want to try the second week.
That moose hunting really gets in your blood doesn't it? I wish I could hunt them every year.

Nub, my wife says I CANT. I save a little here and there all year, so it doesnt come as a big shock. We are going to go to the same outfitter. They were top notch people, and did everything that they possibly could to make our stay enjoyable. The area is awesome, there were moose there, and lots of other critters. Hopefully this year we score.

Just got call from my outfitter, gun season opens on the 11th. of Oct. That means Bow season opens 3 weeks earlier than gun. That will put the opener of bow on the 20th. The 20th. will be comparable to the second week in years past.

Al: I'm now due in camp on the 27th. Steve will get hold of you and the other group to see if you'll still want the second week. Or if you want the first since its such a late opening. I'll send you an email soon as Jordo goes down for a nap.

Hey Nub, I just found out the opener was later this year. That may put a monkey wrench in my works, the other guys in my party cant do that week. Our 8 man crew is now down to 2.
