The federal government is instructing police forces to crack down on gun owners who don`t register their weapons by the New Year`s Day deadline,sources have told the Toronto Sun.

Forces across Ontario have told officials at the provincial legislature that they have received letters advising them to locate non-compliant owners and charge them, a source said."

I think this sounds like a scare tactic...yet again. It is common knowledge due to the mess the CFC is experiencing now and delays the govt has given a 6 month grace period to obtain the registration paper or documents from CFC. So I can't see the police force cracking down until June.

but I agree what a crock...target the once peaceful, law abiding citzen...way to go Allan Rock and the whpole liberal gov.t' Another milestone in canadian history!!!!!

One has to wonder how they plan on doing that considering the fact that they can't even track down all the illegal handguns on the streets of Toronto that are in the hands of criminals that have no intentions of registering them & that are killing each other off every night of the week....what a joke!!!!!!! How can you track down a gun owner if they haven't registered their guns? The government has no idea whether I have guns or not unless they search my house (even then they still wouldn't find them).
I'll register before the year end but I'm not too worried about getting harassed by the police. I live in a community where just about everyone has a firearm and the police I know have much better things to do than bother us.
