Buying a rifle in Ontario

Can anyone explain what needs to be done when buying a used gun from a private dealer?? I have seen a couple posted in classifieds and I know if I bought from a dealer they would take care of all paper work but what if bought private??

You will have to apply for a transfer of ownership from the CFC. Basically the exact same as you would at a dealer except they handle that for you. Assuming it is registered already!! If not you can buy it then register it yourself, after the fact to be legal.

You'll require a PAL to purchase, transfer or register a firearm in Canada.

Sounds easy enough, no harder then buying the used car I guess.

My PAL should be coming in the mail soon and I think a rifle will be my new years present to myself, saves me borrowing a gun for the hunt next year.
