Default Im clueless as to what I want for a good clear and bright scope

I am goint to buy a Browning x bolt white gold medallion 270wsm, I was wondering what kind of scope you'd recommend I'm looking to spend under 600$ I like the leupolds and zeiss but zeiss is very expensive for my taste, the leupolds are more around my price range but I wonder if there is something better out there?

Leupold VX-R or VX-3. I have the VX-R and couldn't be any happier. Good eye relief, clear glass, Leupold's warranty. I give it an A+.

Take a look on here (shop by price) to see what your money can buy.

Tons of great choices. Time for spec comparisons and review reading. Head over to S.W.F.A. and get on the Optic Talk forum.

The VX-3 is an excellent hunting scope. It is light, tough, and reliable.

I would not put too much faith in what you might read on some internet forums, as some posters are not really hunters - and certainly not experts (Optics Talk is a good example of a few self proclaimed experts spouting their theories and admiring each other's wisdom). Of course if someone posts enough times, they are bound to be correct once in a while too. Some sites tend to recommend mostly products that they or their advertisers sell (big surprise).

In your price range it would be really hard to find a bad scope. Some are made for different styles of hunting (most African hunting is different from USA hunting, and some hunting in Europe is completely different). A scope that is great for stand sitting in near dark conditions is not always the best choice for hunting the mountains, etc.

Look at several scopes and see which one you like. I would certainly pick a scope from one of the long established companies such as Swarovski, Leupold, Zeiss, etc., and use some caution with any "new kid on the block" company that may not still be in business in 10 years. The one fits your own taste is the best choice.

A Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 sounds good. Good luck.

Wonderin' if this was directed at me? I've been hunting for over 45 years, and have harvested a lot of game animals. I will also defend the OT site. There are many very intelligent and reputable posters there...delivering very good info. Somebody like Ilya Koshkin comes to mind. Check out his Optics Thoughts website. Of course, there are a few imposters too.

Absolutely not directed at you.

We agree about a few things, and we disagree about a few things (your buddy Koshkin comes to mind), but I did not intend to include you in any negative way.
